Sheikh Muhannad Yusuf began studying Islamic sciences as a child in the mid-1990s at the request and will of his family. He continued this education for decades and immersed himself in numerous disciplines of Islamic scholarship. He has been actively involved in teaching since 2010 and was awarded the Ijāza al-muṭlaqa in 2022, which allows him to teach all the works of the traditional school and to found and manage his own educational institution.
As a graduate of Mahdara, a prestigious traditional Islamic school, he took on teaching and administrative duties there and also runs his own school in Germany. His training took place under the guidance of eminent scholars who mentored him for years and are recognized as outstanding representatives of their discipline:
His family connections also gave him in-depth insights into non-Sunni schools, including Wahhabism and Salafism, and broadened his understanding of various Islamic currents.

In addition to the aforementioned books and studies, he is involved in the proofreading and research work for the work of al-Sheikh al-Imām al-ʿAllāma Muḥammad al-Ḥasan al-Aḥmad al-Khadīm al-Shinqīṭī (الشيخ الإمام العلامة محمد الحسن الأحمد الخديم الشنقيطي) Ziyādāt ʿalā Mukhtaṣar Khalīl (الزيادة على مختصر خليل). He is also involved in other important projects such as Durr al-Fawāʿid wa Ghurr al-Shawāʿid (درر الفوائد و غرر الشواهد).
As a member of the Mahdara Scholars' Committee, he is also one of the deans responsible for foreign representation and is active on the committee and the research committee. He has specialized further in the field of sectarian doctrine and is actively involved in prevention work.
The aim of his teaching is to impart the classical Islamic sciences in a well-founded and practical manner so that they remain relevant to current challenges. The teaching philosophy is based on a balance between traditional knowledge and a reflective, modern perspective. The academy offers students not only intellectual enrichment, but also support in their religious and ethical development.
Through its work at Mahdara and in its own educational institution in Germany, a far-reaching network is formed that connects Islamic scholars, students and institutions. The interdisciplinary cooperation and active participation in international academic and religious discourses make the academy a unique place of education and inspiration. Its commitment aims to preserve Islamic knowledge and heritage and to accompany a new generation of students and scholars on their path.
He has been a regular guest speaker at mosques, associations and universities since 2010. His lectures on Islamic and cultural topics are very well received in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and extend his reach as a scholar and teacher.
He has been working as an interpreter since 2010 and has extensive experience in translation and language mediation between Arabic and German. His work as an interpreter covers various specialist areas and cultural contexts.
From 2017 to 2020, he was imam of a mosque in Minden and took on the role of both second and partly first imam. His duties included the Friday addresses and all the traditional duties of an imam.
He founded the largest Islamic Discord server in Germany and reached second place worldwide. This server, which today has over 6,700 members, was initiated to pick up young people on their digital journey and offer them a platform for exchange and Islamic education. The students are actively responsible for the academic work in the academy, which not only enables them to deepen their knowledge, but also to take on responsibility. It is a very successful project that is still growing today.
In 2021, a scientific department was founded, which is dedicated to research and the writing of specialist books. This department aims to publish scientific works and Islamic specialized literature and thus contribute to Islamic scholarship.
The workplace and the teaching facility, the Zawiya, provide a traditional framework for the teaching of Islamic sciences. The Zawiya stands for the continuation of Islamic education in the tradition and as such is an important part of his work.
Throughout his career, he has undergone specific training in international management and journalism, including practical experience in a TV talk show (Al-Jazeera) in Doha, Qatar. This knowledge enhances his profile with a sound understanding of management and media.
